Compassionate Dog Training and Behaviour Support in Devon

Behaviour and bodywork for calmer, happier dogs.

Tired Of Stressful Walks With Your Reactive Dog?

Living with a dog who pulls on the lead, ignores recall, reacts to other dogs, or struggles to settle can exhausting and overwhelming. Whether you've just brought home a new puppy or you're dealing with behaviours that have been building for months (or years), you don't have to figure it out alone.

Not every issues is a complex behaviour case - and not every training struggle is "just disobedience". Sometimes dogs need clearer foundations. Sometimes they're feeling anxious, frustrated or uncomfortable, and their behaviour reflects that.

The good news? You don’t have to live like this anymore.

My role is to help you understand what's really going on and guide you forward with a kind, practical plan that works in real life.

Charis is just brilliant. We now have a calm, happy dog who loves his walks and interacting with other dogs. The training has been life-changing!

Corinne, Okehampton

Behaviours I can help with;

  • Pulling on the lead

  • Recall that only works when your dog feels like it

  • Puppy training and early foundations

  • Jumping up or overexcitement

  • Barking and reactivity

  • Anxiety, fear or confidence issues

  • Dogs who struggle around people or other dogs

Whether your dog needs solid training foundations, complex behaviour support, or both, we'll work at a pace that feels manageable and achievable.

I cannot recommend Charis enough! I have seen a number of trainers and by far the best results have been with Charis. My dog’s anxiousness and reactivity have improved massively!

A Kind, Evidence-Based Approach

All training and behaviour support is tailored to your individual dog. I use ethical, evidence-based methods designed to reduce stress, build confidence and create lasting change - without the use of fear, intimidation or quick fixes.

For some dogs, behaviour and physical comfort are closely linked. Where appropriate, we may also explore how tension, discomfort or underlying pain could be influencing behaviour - because true progress comes from looking at the whole dog.

As a qualified behaviourist and massage therapist, I bridge the gap between body and behaviour so we can get to the root cause of your dog’s struggles.

❌Most behaviourists suspect pain might be involved - but can’t confirm it.

❌Most massage therapists treat pain - but can’t connect it to behaviour.

My unique combination of expertise means we don’t just manage symptoms, we help your dog feel better, so they can behave better.

You don't have to be the expert - that's my job. I'll help you understand what's really going on and what your dog needs to feel safe again.

Together, we'll look at your dog's whole life - how they move, how they rest, what they eat, and how they feel, - to uncover what's under the surface of their behaviour

Because behaviour makes sense when you understand how your dog feels.

FAQS

💬What if I don’t think my dog’s in pain?

That’s completely okay - many dogs hide discomfort incredibly well. My role is to rule it out, not assume it. Sometimes a subtle physical issue is all it takes to tip a sensitive dog over the edge. By checking their comfort first, we make sure the training and behaviour work actually lasts.

💬 Is it too late for my dog?

Absolutely not. Dogs of all ages can learn new skills, build confidence and develop healthier patterns. Whether you have a young puppy who needs guidance or an older dog with established habits, change is possible with the right approach and consistency.

💬 How much does it cost?

The cost of Training and Behaviour Support Packages can vary depending on your dog's needs. The best way to get clear on this is to book a free discovery call. We’ll talk through what’s going on and I’ll recommend the most appropriate package — so you can make an informed decision without any pressure.

💬 How does it work?

We begin with an in-depth consultation to understand your dog’s life, health, and environment. From there, you’ll receive a tailored training and behaviour plan, along with ongoing guidance to help you apply it confidently in real life. Progress is supported step by step — not rushed.

💬 Will this really work for my dog?

Every dog is different, and there are no quick fixes. What I can promise is a thoughtful, evidence-based approach that looks at the whole picture — skills, emotions, environment and wellbeing. When we support both learning and confidence, we see steadier, more lasting improvements.

💬 What if I need help between sessions?

You won’t be left to figure things out alone.

You’ll have WhatsApp and email support between sessions, so you can ask questions, share updates and get reassurance when you need it. Change feels much more manageable when you have someone in your corner.

You Don't Have To Do This Alone.
